New Kid in Town
As we learned yesterday, Barnie was feeling a little left out. Someone has taken over his Invisi-Cat Shield. Just who is this new guy, and what do the other pets think about the situation?
First Argos.
He has actually shown the least interest, especially if it is nap time.

Next Sophie.
She is always the referee/nanny/babysitter. Remember when Barnie joined us?

So intense. Checking out the new guy.

Next, Greta
She has been a little cranky. I would say it is because she is 19 years old, but she has pretty much been this way her whole life. But we love her anyway.

And finally, Barnie!
The playmate he has been searching for. Maybe…?

So the new guy – still kind of nameless, but considering Quincy or Pete – is pretty cute. Warning… Cute overload:

Move over, Barnie
As usual, summer has me going in too many directions at once. That, and my laptop decided that it was done doing wi-fi, so I have been working on that situation.
And well… a few new things have been happening in our lives.
We left off with Barnie cozy-ing up with Greta. Wow – this was a first! Some people suggested that it was because of the Cat Mat – that they couldn’t resist sharing the space. I would like to believe that, and there might be an element of truth, but… the real reason is below.
Barnie fills us in on getting squeezed out.

Barnie loves his Invisi-Cat Shield. Now it is being used by someone else.

Next update coming soon…!
What’s up with this?
Barnie tolerates Greta fine. He sometimes tries to get her to play, but is only met with cranky get-away-from-me growls. Greta appears to totally ignore Barnie, but is secretly pleased to have another cat in the house. They aren’t BFFs, but they share the space amicably.
Previously, this was as close as Barnie and Greta have “cuddled”

They are touching! What’s up?
Details coming in the next few days…
Weekend in 3, 2, 1…
Barnie prepares for a busy weekend.

Catching up on his beauty rest.

Stretch and yawn workout.

Ready, set, bath!

Time out for a little bird watching.

Resume nap position.
Transitions – switching gears before summer
I was in town to see Sting with a couple of my sisters (a must-see concert IMO!) and work on planning the big 20th year vet school reunion(!) with my pal Peach. This merged into a quick getaway with my parents – just the parental units and me – to the coast. It was a bit spur-of-the-moment at a crazy time of year, when I normally wouldn’t take a trip, but we had a wonderful time.

We even had a day of nice weather.
Then I came home. I somehow walked out of the airport leaving a bag on the baggage carousel. la-la-la didn’t even think about it until several hours later. Yes, feeling a bit distracted lately. :-/ Thank goodness, my bag was waiting for me in the baggage claim. My dear husband drove out to the airport to retrieve it. How nice. (I think he was eager for a little break too, since it was dinnertime. I cooked instead of going to the airport.)
I came home to an eager family and pets, all of them glad that life is now “normal” again, and me realizing oooh how far behind I am on work. Quality time with the parental units meant less work time, but it was totally worth it. Now, however, I am feeling a bit buried.

Reality hits.
Awaiting my return was a package from a long-time dear friend who is genius, pure genius, at packaging and gift-wrapping. And finding cool stuff. Her talent takes my breath away, seriously. (Also filled with a bit of envy… you would know why if you have ever received a package from me, taped wildly together and including a few cat hairs for good measure.) Look:

Everything handmade, wrapped to perfection.
Yummy goodies, musical goodies, books, fun stuff and a big juicy letter! WOW. Perfect goodness on a cold rainy day. Barnie went crazy playing in the packaging. He is so easy to please.
