postheadericon Be The Change … it isn’t just one day

Today, April 16th, has been designated as Be The Change blog day by my blogpaws friends. The goal is to blog, tweet, Facebook … any way you can get the word out about how you are going to “be the change you want to see” and in so doing, encourage your friends to do the same. Talk about your grassroots movement taking the Internet by storm. Tweets are coming fast and furious and everyone is excited.

But it is more than that.

For the first time, some people out there are realizing that they CAN make a difference. One simple action really does affect change. Not only for the animal, rescue, or person it is intended for, either. There is a ripple effect going on here. One person, one idea, inspires another. You don’t have to be a mega corporation or a uber fundraiser to make a change. Start now. Think of one small thing you can do today to help out an animal. I have lots of ideas here to help get you started.

Already a blogger? Check out 10 simple ways bloggers can help pets every day from my new Blogpaws pal, Jane from PetFinder (where I found Argos and my Greyhound rescue group!)

I love the Be The Change idea because it is what I have always believed in –  long before Blogpaws, Twitter and Facebook — great tools that are wonderfully taking everyone by storm and being such an inspiration to all. Now I have a bigger idea in my head. One a little too big to formulate the logistics for this Be The Change day. But that is OK. We have time. This is just Day #1 of many days to Be The Change. The ball is officially rolling.

Now that you have taken the first step, what’s next? The possibilities are endless. Isn’t that cool?

Step out of your comfort zone. You can do it!

NOTE: Pets Without Parents is a certified charity. All funds collected are handled by FirstGiving, the Paw Pawty organizers do not handle any of the donations.

  • How encouraging to see the pile on today! And you could not be more correct – I sense a swell coming. More than one day indeed.

  • Dr V:

It was so very hard to articulate what I wanted to say at the conference but obviously everyone got what I meant. What Caroline meant when she said BlogPaws was about rescue, and invited three non-pro bloggers to talk about making a difference.

Making a change is not only about the end result- the money or the donation or the time. It is about an internal resolution to have a purpose, and the fundamental knowledge that every contribution matters.

I know it’s not a revolutionary concept, this whole ripple effect, but it’s so powerful to actually experience it.
